Ullman Sails Melges 24 Racing Guide

Ullman Sails are dominating the results at the major Melges 24 regattas, reflecting our commitment to being the world leader in one design and performance sailing.

The key to Melges 24 sailing is not memorizing this racing guide, but understanding how the settings affect the boat and how it feels. The goal is to be able to feel that something is wrong and quickly fix the problem to keep your boat moving fast.

We have found the measurements and settings in this guide to be the fastest for the Melges24. Since crew and sailing conditions vary, you may find slightly different settings are better for you. Go fast and have fun!

Ullman Sails Melges 24 Inventory

Dacron "SHARK" Class Mainsail $3,000 $2550 if ordered by Oct.31 for Key West and Spring delivery.

Why a Dacron Mainsail? Other sailmakers build their Melges 24 mainsails out of laminate material, but the Ullman Sails Melges mainsail uses woven Dacron, which has proven to be fastest and easiest to use across the wind range.

Automatic shift: Because we've arranged the crosscut panel orientation to place the cloth's threadline slightly off the load path in the critical upper-batten area of the mainsail, the leech automatically opens the right amount in gusts and as the wind builds -- an important adjustment that mainsails made of laminate material do not make.

The "Shark Model”: The Ullman mainsail features a radial clew section and head panel of 6.5W and 5.46 Contender Polykote Dacron to handle loads, and the body of the sail is crosscut using 4.52 Contender Polykote Dacron for maximum adjustability across the wind range.

Goes faster, longer: Finally, the "Shark model" mainsail not only goes through the wind range better and easier (letting you concentrate on racing instead of sail tweaking), the woven Dacron material holds its shape longer than laminate mainsails.

Aramid Fiberpath Class Mainsail $3,370$2865 if ordered by Oct.31 for Key West and Spring delivery.

Mains include: Tapered racing battens with RBS Rocket adjusters, bolt rope luff, loose foot,

sail numbers, cunningham, telltales, 2 draft stripes, class royalty and a roll bag.

$1,750 $1488 if ordered by Oct.31 for Key West and Spring delivery.

New sail for light-medium conditions: This new design is easy to steer to and can be sheeted tight for light-medium conditions for rocket speed and point.

Technora AP Class Jib $1,750 $1488 if ordered by Oct.31 for Key West and Spring delivery.

Proven shape for all conditions: This design has great speed in the conditions when speed and pointing are needed. The AP Jib drives to a higher gear when the conditions change to the higher wind conditions.

Jibs include: Custom Technora laminate, Ultra-Bond glued connectors, 3 vertical RBS battens, adjustable foot/leech cords, foot vision windows, telltales, (2) draft stripes, class royalty and a roll bag.

AP+ AirX 650 Class Spinnaker $2,700 $2295 if ordered by Oct.31 for Key West and Spring delivery.

Latest design, improved from 2007 Worlds Victory: This updated design has an easy trim luff and open leech for quick acceleration. Used for displacement sailing and low end planing

Blast Reacher AirX 650 Class Spinnaker $2,700 $2295 if ordered by Oct.31 for Key West and Spring delivery.

New design for low and high wind sailing: This is the "go to" sail when winds are extremely light (all crew to leeward) or big breeze with fast planning. Don’t leave the dock without it!

Spinnakers include: class royalty, taped seams, your color choice, vision foot window, stenciled corners, class royalty and a sail bag.
